The Beauty Department also employs specialist tutors to add a realistic employment experience. Some of our industry professionals have included World Skills Trainers, authors of therapy text books, international make-up artists and trainers and nationally recognised photographers.

NVQ Level 2 Diploma

This is the ideal starting place for a career on beauty. The level 2 course helps you understand the basics of beauty therapy, including manicure, pedicure, facial and body units. The reception work and client advice parts of the course will prepare you for real employment.

NVQ Level 3 Diploma

The level 3 Beauty Therapy Course hones your existing skills into a more professional, individual therapist. During this course could learn to use more in depth treatments, become more proficient in your salon techniques, reach a higher esteem in the salon and gain a higher earning potential.

Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 2Foundation Apprenticeship Pathway
 
Course Overview
 
Makeup being appliedThis course is designed for apprentices aged 16-19 registered to a beauty salon as a beauty therapist. The apprenticeship framework consists of the NVQ + Functional Skills requirements*. On successful completion of the on and off-the-job competencies, the apprentice will be classified as a qualified tradesperson. The nationally recognised, Foundation Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy, will be issued on successful completion of the course.
 
 
Entry Requirements
 
Entry to this course will be open to UK residents who are registered as apprentices in beauty therapy. There are no formal requirements as the young learner will be employed by the salon, however due to the nature of the written theory, functional skills and unit tests, the apprentice should have good GCSE results in English, Maths and Science, otherwise they may need extra tuition to enable them to complete this part of the course - (this will be decided during the application and induction).
 
On Completion
 
On completion of the NVQ Level 2 qualification the learner will be able to:
  • ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
  • promote additional products or services to customers
  • develop and maintain effectiveness at work
  • provide facial skin care treatment
  • enhance the appearance of eyebrows and eyelashes
  • carry out waxing services
  • provide manicure services
  • provide pedicure services

The number and choice of units will be negotiated at enrolment.

 

 

Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 3Advanced Apprenticeship Pathway
 
Course Overview
 
Therapy being appliedThis course is designed for apprentices who have already successfully completed the foundation apprenticeship and wish to further their career path.  The advanced apprenticeship framework consists of the NVQ + Functional Skills requirements*. On successful completion of the on and off-the-job competencies, the apprentice will be classified as a qualified tradesperson. The nationally recognised, Advanced Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course.
 
 
Entry Requirements
 
Entry to this course will be open to UK residents who are registered as apprentices in beauty therapy.   • monitor procedures to safely control work operations
  • contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
  • provide body massage treatments
  • provide Indian head massage
  • carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils
  • provide stone therapy treatments
  • provide single eyelash extension treatments (optional)
  • provide self tanning services (optional)

The number and choice of units will be negotiated at enrolment.
